Description:

Spotify is looking for an Editor – Music & Culture (Telugu) to be the voice of Telugu music and culture on its platform in India. This role blends creativity, analytics, and cultural expertise to drive the growth of Telugu music consumption on Spotify.

As the music and culture expert, you will use your deep understanding of Telugu music, cultural movements, and consumer behavior to curate playlists, discover emerging talent, and tell compelling cultural stories. You will work closely with regional and global teams to implement editorial strategies that shape how millions of listeners engage with Telugu music.

This position is based in Mumbai and reports to the Head of Editorial, India. Beyond Telugu, you may also contribute to other projects as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide cultural and musical insights to build engaging and authentic listening experiences
• Identify music trends, emerging talent, and opportunities in local/global music scenes
• Curate and manage playlists in Telugu, creating engaging descriptions and commentary
• Lead storytelling around cultural and music trends
• Analyze user behavior and performance data to guide editorial decisions
• Collaborate with global and regional editorial teams to enhance Spotify’s market position
• Work cross-functionally with marketing, sales, and product teams to integrate cultural insights
• Support artist discovery and help grow fanbases through editorial projects

Key Technical Skills:

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience in music, media, or entertainment industries (experience in media-tech companies is a plus)
• Passionate about music with deep knowledge of Telugu music and cultural scene
• Strong understanding of how consumer behavior connects to music culture and trends
• Fluency in English and Telugu (knowledge of other Indian languages is an advantage)
• Skilled at interpreting data and analytics to optimize playlist performance
• Excellent communication skills (written, video, or audio commentary) to engage audiences
• Team player with adaptability, growth mindset, and strong emotional intelligence (EQ)
